Torque of the North - November 2023

Austin Healey Club Northern Centre's Newsletter

Hi ,

News from around the North
It’s been a quiet month for cars on the road so here is a great opportunity to cover some of the success that our Northern Austin-Healey drivers have been having on the circuit and hill this summer.  Well done to Murray Shand, Rob Owen, John and James Hughes for their successes in 2023. There is plenty of coverage in the Revcounter for the HealeySports and I believe there will be some coverage of the Hughes exploits in the magazine shortly so I won’t repeat it all here other than to say,  have a look at this video as posted by James in car footage from CSCC Swinging Sixties Group 1 Oulton Park 2023.   If you've ever wondered what it is like to drive a Sprite flat out round Oulton, now is your chance - watch YouTube frogeye sprite 134.

Skittles Night
The annual Skittles evening at the Bickerton Poacher, Malpas produced a tightly fought match between Cheshire and Leek with the Northern team winning by a single point.  The famous Bickerton Pies were a treat on a cold night and we all enjoyed a terrific night out.

John Bowman aims for the Strike to no avail as Team Cheshire take the Trophy.

Sunday Worship!
In Scotland, Ian Walker was out at Mugdock just North of Glasgow sampling the hospitality of the Sunday Worship Classic Car meet. Great opportunity to get the car out in some for some late season Healeying.
