Torque of the North - February 2022

Austin Healey Club Northern Centre's Newsletter

Welcome to February’s newsletter, whilst this is a dismal time of year, at least dry January has given us all the opportunity to “exercise” our cars.

There is, however, lots to look forward to this year, so keep an eye on forthcoming events.  I know a few of us are attending the Denis Welch event, courtesy of the Midlands area, on 16th February, with the Practical Classics Restoration Show on 18-20th March, where we will have a Healey stand!

News from around the North
First off, its good to see that Covid didn’t impact our Christmas events too much, with the Cheshire, Yorkshire and Scottish lunches going ahead and the Welsh event now amalgamated with the normal Noggin, on the 17th February.  Also, Paul Johnson has one room available on Mayday weekend in the Peak District, details under forthcoming events.

Whilst some of us have managed to “bag” a space on the Dennis Welch tour, there will be a similar opportunity to book on a tour of the Murray Scott Nelson fascility in Scarborough on Saturday 21st May.  Please  “register your interest” with Jeff Hollinshead: 07800974418 or at yorkshire@ahc-northern.org.uk
Given we only have 15 slots available we expect it to fill quickly, although John has indicated he would be happy to host us again, albeit later in the year.

There is also an open invitation to join the Yorkshire sub-centre in their drive it day on Sunday 24th April.  Meeting at the Lakeside Café in Colne (yep, Lancashire!) at 10am for a drive through the Trough of Bowland with lunch at the superb Midland Hotel in Morecambe.  Again contact Jeff  ASAP to book your place, the cost of a 2 course lunch is £23.95 and we understand you can also just join for lunch!

So, with such a packed year of events, now is a good time to fix that knotty Healey problem:
  • Talk to Dave Sinclair our Northern Centre tech Guru.
  • Use your local WhatsApp Group to ask local members for ideas.
  • Use the members map to find local members to chat to.
  • Pop down to your local Noggin, a problem shared...etc.
That's all for this month, remember the good weather is just around the corner!
