Torque of the North - September 2022

Austin Healey Club Northern Centre's Newsletter

Hi ,

August saw some great shows, with Tatton, an August staple, Classics-over-Sands in South Lakes and North Wales Barbeque at the Hughes Family Farm.

Big news from Tatton was Pam Garnett and Doug McClymont (check out those shorts) winning trophies, super weather, cracking food and company - another great club event.
At Grange-over-Sands in South Lakes, we had a real mix of Healey’s spread across the field, another lovely sunny day with gorgeous views across the Bay.  Robert Thornburrow's Frogeye made the journey up from Cheshire, with more Sprites here than Big Healey’s on show, as well as a lovely Healey Abbott.
John and Jill from North Wales Area ran another successful barbeque at the Hughes Family farm, hitting the same sunny weekend as Grange.
News from around the North
The Northeast Centre’s WhatsApp group is off and running, with some great content.  If you’re not signed up yet contact Murray on: murrayshand@negarages.co.uk.

Yorkshire’s “Last of the Summer Drive” is open to anyone either side of the Pennines. The date is nailed down to Sunday 2nd October, starting at the excellent Oil Can Café for coffee at 10am, with a round trip of around 100 miles - with a Derbyshire pub lunch.  Contact Jeff on 07800 974418 to sign up.

Our secretary has finally thrown in the towel (work commitments) - if anyone is interested in joining the Northern Centre Committee and taking on this “lightweight” task, give Doug a call.

The Northern Centre AGM will be held in the Northeast of England to coincide with the regular Northumbria Noggin and Natter. It takes place at 8pm on Wednesday 26th 2022, in the Ridley Arms, Stannington, Morpeth, Northumberland, NE61 6EL. Members can join the AGM Virtually or in person at the meeting (as an added bonus I hear there will be butties provided!)  Everyone is welcome, come and make your voice heard on how the Centre is run, vote in the committee, and hear what’s planned for the coming year. We’re always interested in members who want to help us run our Centre! Contact Doug if you want to attend in person chairman@ahc-northern.org.uk  or e-mail webmaster@ahc-northern.org.uk if you would like to join the meeting virtually.

The Northern Centre Mayday Event 2023 is being held in the Northeast (clearly a popular area!) at the Blackwell Grange hotel.  More details will be in September’s Revcounter, so if you’re interested contact Paul at:  pjcon@hotmail.com & he’ll give you all the facts.
