Torque of the North - January 2023

Austin Healey Club Northern Centre's Newsletter

Hi ,

I hope you had a lovely Christmas and cracking new year celebrations, I’m told 2023 is likely to be warmer than 2022, so our schedule of events might hit some decent weather. There are still late Christmas parties to look forward to as well as a variety of “Drive It Days” come April, check out our first few dates for 2023, with many more to come as organisers “nail down” dates.

News from around the North
The North Wales Christmas Party proved a great start to the festivities, despite the cold weather and winter bugs.   John and Jill provided some great entertainment with a quiz, raffle and two fabulous photo shows, including a nostalgic journey back through AHC North Wales over some 40 years, with some recognisable, albeit somewhat younger, characters popping up!  A brilliant end to the year.

Revcounter
Have you got January’s Revcounter yet?  Congratulations to Tony Ball from Scotland for winning the Tech Talk Award '22 with two super articles. Also, get Tony & Jacky Lyons’ BJ8 on the front page (that’s 6 of the last 8 from our Northern Centre cars). Great work and let’s keep the Revcounter relevant.

Forthcoming events

  • Glamis Castle.  47th Scottish Transport Extravaganza in July with exact dates to be announced.
  • 28-30th July 2023 - Oulton Park Gold Cup.  This perennial outing to the Gold Cup and once again it’s at the earlier July date rather than August Bank Holiday.

  • 2nd-3rd September 2023 - Croft Nostalgia The North Eastern team are planning to return to the Croft Circuit to attend the Historic Sports Car Club Race meeting.
Centre Contacts Thank you to everyone who supported our events in 2022, if not you in '22, try to make it to one of the 2023 listings.

Finally wishing you a Happy and Prosperous New Year from Doug and the committee.
