Torque of the North - May 2022

Austin Healey Club Northern Centre's Newsletter

Hi ,

The 24th of April saw many of us out in our cars for “Drive it day” around the North.  We joined the Yorkshire members, from Colne, through the Trough of Bowland to lunch at the Midland Hotel in Morecambe, then back to Yorkshire.  Thanks to John & Jill for pulling together an excellent run in North Wales, to Cath, Phil and Jeff for mapping the route in Yorks & Lancs and to Neil Munn in Scotland for the epic route from Stirling up to Banchory.
After two years of cancellations, the May Bank Holiday event went ahead and the Peak District was treated to the roar of 63 Healeys. The event was blessed with great driving weather, exciting routes and a superb venue. Thanks to Paul & Jacqui Johnson and Mike & Bernadette Stonier for organising a fabulous weekend.
A big thank you to Jonathan Pilkington for organizing another fabulous “set up” at Gawsworth Hall, near Macclesfield on Bank Holiday Monday.  We had our own area, on the bank, with a total of 13 cars and lots of interest from members attending without their cars and we also had a few members from other centres who had attended the nearby Peak District event.

News from around the North
Time to get the cars out to the Noggins now that the clocks have changed and the weathers warmer!  If you haven’t ventured to one of our Noggins, the venues are on the website and in “Revcounter”, or simply call one of the contacts below.

The Murray Scott Nelson trip is now full, with 5 members on a reserve list for a possible September 12th visit.  Jeff (see below) has asked members who expressed interest in the 21st of May trip to contact him to confirm final numbers.  Also Jeff is looking for an early frogeye or Mk2 Sprite to complete the Bowcliffe lineup in July (see forthcoming events).
