Torque of the North - October 2025
Austin Healey Club Northern Centre's Newsletter

Hi ,
News from around the North
September started so well, with a cracking drive through the Pennines, Hexham to Tan Hill, then the rain came (apologies for accompanying Lotuses). Come Goodwood Revival, I’ve never seen rain like it...still that’s what old cars are about, stemming the leaks and wiping inside the windscreen.

Ivor & Ian’s Tour of the Alps
Ivor Davies and Ian Walker’s Grand Tour des Alpes in September looks simply stunning. Seems the French police also took a shine to them, but more of that & Ivor’s wet return in a future RevCounter.
Cholmondley Festival of 1000 Classic Cars
Looks like a beautiful day at Cholmondley and the perfect setting for Healeys. This was a last minute invite from Classic Shows for Steve Higginson who brought along his beautiful Healey Abbot, which bagged runner up for the show’s Pre-1960 category.
Welsh Weekend
A lovely pair of Healeys belonging to John and Lesley Pollard, and Malcolm and Anne Aird, that certainly look the part at the Welsh Weekend. It was great to see that the cars were out and about despite the deluge on Saturday, as ever thanks to John and Jill Bowman for masterminding a brilliant weekend.
Yorkshire’s Last of the Summer Drives
Meeting at Squires Biker Cafe at Sherburn In Elmet, thirteen members in 8 Austin Healeys set off for the last organised drive of the year kindly sorted by Clive Ferris on a 70 mile route around East Yorkshire, crossing four rivers in the process to finish at The Fat Abbot pub in Escrick for lunch.
