Hi,
Welcome to May’s newsletter, with some decent (hood down) weather lately, our main item is “lockdown opening up” events from around the North. We’ve also got news from the membership map, details about the Yorkshire Sub-Centre and changes in obtaining Oulton Park Gold Cup tickets.
So our first events to “open up” after lockdown are a little tentative at this stage, but to give you a flavour:
- Donald Gordon is in the process of organising a days “run out”, contact Donald on: donald.gordon@ahc-northern.org.uk or 0141 887 1979.
- Jeff Hollinshead, of the Yorkshire Sub-Centre, is planning a trip to an interesting venue in Belper, Derbyshire; “The Great British Car Journey”, a brand new museum and venue. More details from Jeff direct at: jeff.hollinshead@ahc-northern.org.uk
- North Wales “Drive It Day” event will be a fairly laid back affair, weather permitting, tentatively scheduled for Sunday 16th May. Northop Hall Cricket Club meetings restart Thursday 20th May at the earlier time of 7.30pm. Contact Jill Bowman for more details: 07766 706554
- Manchester and Cheshire kicks off a little later, with the Gawsworth Hall Event in Macclesfield Cheshire on 31st May, details from Jonathan Pilkington at treasurer@ahc-northern.org.uk
Last month we shared with everyone the members map, as a result we’ve now a total of 70 “pins” in the map, which is a brilliant start. The map really does provide opportunities for us to communicate, find members local to us and generally make use of the club. Once again, we’d love to have the full membership using the map, so please follow this link and get yourself “on the map”!
The Yorkshire Sub-Centre, currently run by a very enthusiastic Jeff Hollinshead, is thriving. The Noggins now take place at The Black Horse Inn, Brighouse, where meetings continue (Covid permitting). Jeff has plans (as Geography means many are unable to make the Brighouse meetings) to move a couple Noggins a year to different venues to enable more of the ninety-one members to join in.
Yorkshire is a busy Sub-Centre with “Last of the Summer drives” and very successful “Drive It Days” - the last included; twelve Healey's, two MG’s, a Mercedes R1O7 and two daily drivers. Twenty-Five members so far have joined the WhatsApp Group (run by Les McGuffog - contact him on the members map), an ideal way of organising ad hoc events.
