News from around the North

Glorious Drive It Day
The weather was certainly kind last Sunday with five brilliant “Drives” across the centre.  Those tough guys in Scotland braved a chilly day to visit the Dundee Museum of Transport alongside several classic car clubs, before a drive to Arbroath for some “Smokies” (very envious).  Down the coast in Northumbria, The AHC were the guests of the MGCC on the annual Cobweb run. The gang in Yorkshire tested the breakfasts at the renowned “Yummy Yorkshire” followed by a gorgeous drive through the Derbyshire Dales to Hathersage for Lunch.
Meanwhile across in North Wales the team were restricted to Coffee at the regular Tweedmill (shopping!) before tackling the roads of Denbighshire enroute to the Crown Inn. 
 
Cheshire newbies got their first Drive It Day off to a sizzling start with bacon butties at The Lambing Shed near Knutsford. Hugging closely to the back lanes of Cheshire along a route few knew existed. Lunch at the canal side pub came with the strict warning not to use the (highly scarred) hump back canal bridge!
 
Well done and a BIG Thank You to everyone who planned and managed the Dive It Days on the Club’s first major outing this year.   Thanks to everyone who joined in, the public will certainly have enjoyed the spectacle!

The Yorkshire May Noggin
 
Jeff's team are on tour and the Noggin will be held away from their home base of The Black Horse Inn at The Punch Bowl, Marton Cum Grafton, YO51 9QY from 6.30pm onwards on Wednesday 21st.  See you there, no need for Passports you’re still in Yorkshire.
International Healey Meeting 2025, “Last minute places available”
Crewe Hall, South Cheshire, Sunday 20th July to Wednesday 23rd July.

Until recently, this major event of over 75 cars has been fully booked.  However, we have recently received two cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances.

BVAC Classic at Thirlestane Castle - 8th June 2025
Planning for Thirlestane Castle is under way and the Scottish area have secured a club stand at the show.  Applications to join AHC stand are now closed but you can still grab a private entry directly from the organisers.  Contact Richard Spalding at: richard.spalding@ahc-northern.org.uk  07598 194394 for details.

Club Run
Join in the action in Scotland and North East on 9th - 11th June, right after the Thirlestane show with a drive around the Northumberland 250 tour ending up with the Coffee and Classic at Peebles Hydro.  Contact Richard above for details.
Classic and Performance Car Spectacular at Tatton Park – 7th/8th June
The Classic and Performance Car Spectacular is one of the UK’s best loved classic car shows, celebrating the golden age of motoring. Enthusiasts can view some of the finest cars ever made, with more than 2000 classics on site. There is something for everyone! Buying or selling? Don’t miss their famous classic car autojumble. HealeySport Harewood Hill - Sat/Sun 7th/8th June
Another visit to the Northern Area by the AHC Sports section. Rounds 4 & 5 of the 2025 Speed Championship - Sprint and Hill Climb Challenge.  Come along and support the Healey team and see the cars in action on the hill or up close in the paddock.  Harewood Avenue, Harewood, Leeds, LS17 9LA.  More details from Murray Shand below.
Classic Transport Weekend at Llangollen Railway Sat/Sun 5th/6th July
The North Wales team are planning to attend this even in strength with the club event shelter on both days. Vehicle entry is FREE but with the high demand expected, entry applications should be submitted ASAP and no later than 1st June 2025. You should complete your own application here:  Online Application  and let John and Jill Bowman know that you have booked (see below).

Tue-Thu  22nd-24rd July - Yorkshire Elegance at Grantley Hall Yorkshire

An event that just keeps growing in scale and grandeur.

We are manning an AHC stand on the last two days.  Once again we have been offered free entry into the event for up to 10 cars (20 people) on each of the two show days on 23rd & 24th July.

Members Discount: YE are happy to offer a 10% discount on all day ticket types for the event, this includes the driving day, VIP Hospitality and the VIP Lounge options.

Classics over Sands 10th August 2025
Located in Grange-over-Sands this is a show that is growing every year. With over 300 classics, the crowds literally burst onto the show field in record numbers in 2024.  Entries open Now at: classicsoversands.org  . Contact Phil Kershaw, phil.kershaw@ahc-northern.org.uk for more details.
