Footman James Classic Car Show - Event City - 19/20 September 2015

Manchester Classic Car Show

The AHC Northern Centre Committee arranged for a club presence at this year's Footman James Manchester Classic Car Show held at the end of September in the Event City venue at the Trafford Centre. There were nine cars on the Austin-Healey stand comprised of two Frogeye Sprites, three 100s and four 3000s. These included new member Nick Ginger's 3000 Mk 11A, that won the award for the Best Sports Car in the show, Martin Booth's 3000 Mk 111 rally replica fresh from it's victory in the National Concours held during the IHW in Farncombe in July, and Doug McClymont's work-in-progress, his Frogeye Sprite rolling chassis. This is the second year that we have attended the Footman James version of this show, that revives the former show that was held at the G-Mex conference and exhibition centre in the 1980s and 1990s, and hopefully it will become established as an annual event and continue to become bigger and better in future years. The Healeys were very well presented and we would like to thank our exhibitors and for them to know that their efforts were greatly appreciated. During the two days of the show there was a photographer taking videos of the stands. We found out that his name was Graham Clark and his company, VFS Motor Racing Videos, was commissioned by Footman James to record the event. Some of his videos can be seen on his web site www.vfsvideos.co.uk and these include one of an interview with 100 owners Tim Valentine and Ivor Davies.
