AHCN May Bank Holiday Weekend 2019

The Northern Centre May Day Bank Holiday Weekend - 2019
Friday 3rd to Monday 6th May

The Scottish Borders

Welcome to the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel, our venue for the Northern Centre event in 2019. We will have exclusive use of the hotel and its swimming pool during the event. The hotel is nestled in the heart of the Scottish Borders in its own 11 acre private estate on the banks of the River Tweed, one of Scotland’s finest salmon rivers and they will be running. Fishing can be arranged with rods hired from the hotel. Formerly a baronial country house, it was built in 1845 and later converted to a hotel in 1929. Next door are the historic ruins of Dryburgh Abbey, burial place of Sir Walter Scott and Field Marshall Haig.

The Scottish Borders, offer a stunning location for scenery and roads that are both long and sweeping with little traffic, ideal for the Healeys. The event will run from Friday 3rd May until Monday 6th May. Arrangements have also been made for shoulder nights at a discounted rate for anyone wishing to extend their stay or simply avoid the Bank Holiday traffic. The agenda for the event will be as follows:

FridayCheck-in time will be 3.00pm. On arrival, tea and coffee will be available in the lounge. Perhaps there’ll be time for a quick dip in the pool to unwind before dinner. The evening will be the time for meeting old friends and making new.
SaturdayA route around Upper Tweeddale and Tweeds Muir Hills, including a visit to Lovat tweed Mill in Hawick, where you’ll be able to go round the mill and maybe buy some tweed apparel. After dinner, there will be Entertainment.
SundayA route around Northumberland National Park and the Cheviot Hills taking in some of the Borders historic towns such as Jedburgh. Following the run, we will return in the afternoon for your Concours judging. In the evening we will have our Gala Dinner with pre dinner drinks, wine on the table, a Cornish Auction in aid of charity and Concours Prize giving.
MondayWe say our farewells and head for home - unless you’re staying for an additional night or two.

As always with the Northern weekend you are free to do as you please so if you’d prefer to do some fishing or visit one or two of the many nearby places of historical interest, that’s fine.
