OK!.... For some reason best known to the organisers they would not let us race. One could speculate that they were afraid of us showing up the classic formula 3 stars. With Messrs Stewart, Moss, Reggazoni, Brabham and Bell there to watch the fourteen classic events over the two days, we of Team Northern Centre were unable therefore to impress and thus reduced to the ignominy of mere spectators.

It was exciting, spectacular, and at times ear drum splitting. Oulton Park was celebrating its 50th Anniverary in style, and although the Gold Cup format was somewhat changed to the first time it was held, nevertheless it retained a fair amount of its original magic.

Good weather and the well established Northern Centre barbecue made it an enjoyable Bank holiday outing for those members who had not headed East for that Centre's weekend.

Too  many cooks and a plentiful supply of sausages. The formula for a successful Northern Centre BBQ. ( Note the stand is now resplendent in Healey Colorado Red, compliments of Ken Broster.)
