Caroline wins a prize on the CRY Tombola.

Another weekend at the Classic Sports Car Show Tatton Park, Cheshire for the Northern Centre as usual meant Rain! However, as usual it was very well supported with 19 cars on Saturday and a similar number on Sunday.

John and Karen Ridyard organised a very successful tombola to raise funds for the charity C-R-Y- Cardiac Risk in the Young. This charity is very important to the Northern Centre members as one of our Team has recently lost their beautiful young daughter due to a very sudden illness.  534 was raised; an excellent result and thanks go to John and Karen and also to the members who donated prizes. Plus, special thanks must go to the two Margarets and Caroline who corralled the generous members of public onto the tombola stand to part with their pound coins. In addition to the Tombola it was intended to raise the awareness of sudden death in what seems perfectly healthy young persons caused by undetected cardiac issues. This happens on average to 12 people per week in the 14-35 age groups. C-R-Y is active in raising awareness and facilitating ECG testing to prevent other families going through such unbelievable pain and heartache.

After Friday's downpour at Tatton Park for the grass cutting and stand setup, all was worth the effort as the club won second prize for the best club stand on Saturday which was a lovely sunny day, with a terrific display of cars both big and small Healey's completely filling our stand. David Birkenshaw won second prize and John Ridyard won first prize for their cars and on Sunday, it was the turn of Tony and Ivor Davis to win second and first prize respectively. Yes, we never get a weekend without rain and it rained on Sunday so it was roofs up or tonneau covers in place which was a shame for the viewing visitors. Still we barbecued and got on with having a very social event which is a very key part of these shows. This is probably the last major event for the cars in 2012 and we have to say thanks to everyone for coming and supporting; please do try and come to club night so we can keep meeting up and give a warm welcome to any new members who drop in.

Happy Healeying!
